We recently visited the NGV International to view Alain de Botton’s and John Armstrong’s take on various works from the collection. Called Art as Therapy it was certainly a visually exhausting experience. To find the selected pieces we had to explore almost the entire collection over three levels.
.
But it was fun. And refreshing to see and read the philosophers comments on the works in context to the concerns or ‘sicknesses' of everyday life.
The ‘sickness' we appreciated and often experience is the one titled ‘’too busy to look at the sky”. We are encouraged to look at Constable’s cloud studies to free ourselves from our daily challenges and for a moment to focus on the natural beauty around us. We are reminded that “Constable didn’t expect us to become deeply concerned with meteorology.”
Sky blue. Sea blue. True blue. Blue is the inspiration for our new limited edition print release ‘ICU’
