Cascade Blue. How do you capture emotions visually? That’s a challenge I attempt to explore from time to time. It’s difficult. But I use Bridget Riley’s quote for inspiration. She says in the book The eye’s mind: Bridget Riley edited by Robert Kudielka “I draw from nature. For me nature is not landscape, but the dynamism of visual forces – an event rather than an appearance. These forces can only be tackled by treating colour and form as ultimate identities, freeing them from all descriptive roles” In Cascade Blue the abstract shapes are falling as they cut into one another. And become heavy as they fall. And the colour is blue. Not sky blue. But blue blue.
